This recording is the product of 'The Soundtrack Workshop' a collaboration between River City Rock Camp, Find Your Voice Music Studio, and the Lawrence Arts Center. Over the course of three months this spring, nine students (ages 14 - 18) composed original music to accompany and be the 'soundtrack' for Summer Youth Theater's 2017 production of “She Kills Monsters”, written by Qui Nguyen. Each student wrote, arranged and performed their own original compositions. 'The Soundtrack Workshop' was conceived and organized by teaching artists Adrian Rees (River City Rock Camp) and Kirsten Paludan (Find Your Voice Music Studio) as a way for budding artists of different mediums to work together and as a tool for young musicians to gain experience in recording and composition. Engineered by Braden Young and Lucas Farmer, these 11 songs were recorded in May 2017 at the Lawrence Public Library Sound and Vision Studio.
